Liturgy for the Ancestors

upon this Winter Season

(Please site me if you use this for any reason – please don’t forward it endlessly and create spam. Otherwise, it is yours, my Holiday Gift.)

Snow falls
rain falls
sun falls in rainbow splatters

Winter is here, and we remember:

All of us here have ancestors who:
have laughed, made love, loved, given birth, tilled the soil, healed, danced, sailed, explored, invented, known the winds, felt the rain, reached for the sun, died.

And we have survived

All of us here have ancestors who
have known oppression, the lash on the back, the humiliation of bowing before masters, the death of slavery, the pain of chains, the mutilation of body and spirit

And we have survived

All of us here have ancestors who
have wielded the whip, drug the unwilling in chains, laughed at the weak, abused the owned, known the intoxication of power

And we have survived

All of us here have ancestors who
have lifted hands in supplication, heard the call and fought for freedom, knocked down the oppressors, spoken the truth, and reached for the good

And we have survived

All of us here have ancestors who
Died in brutal war, sewn salt into the enemies’ fields, know the blood and death of battle, decapitated kings, denounced our neighbors

And we have survived

All of us here have ancestors who
Fought for the truth, lived and died in honor, marched for peace, reached for justice, known the consequences of action, held the hand of a comrade

And we have survived

All of us here have ancestors who
Died in fires of hate, felt the bullet, breathed the gas, perished in darkness, were forgotten .. and, remembered.

And we have survived

All of us here have ancestors who
Felt the Earth beneath our feet and stood in awe of the sky.

And we have Survived

We reach to each other and love our human hands and faces.
We are all guilty and we are all innocent, we carry the blood of the humans of Earth in our bodies and pass that blood to our children.

And we will grow, heal, love, die, and be reborn again.

Ancestors, we honor you, All The Peoples of the Earth.

“This is a book I published – a novella – I find it proliferating all over the Internet at places like this:

https://www.booksonboard.com/index.php?BODY=viewbook&BOOK=185769&v=buynow.
This is practice is completely unauthorized and is out and out theft. Please don’t buy it anywhere else. The press that published it is out of business, and I do not get any royalties for pirate websites sales. Since it seems impossible to stop this from happening, I am putting it here for  – absolutely–  free.
Enjoy!

  1. Hi there

I am sorry you have had all of this trouble with piracy; I am grateful for the opportunity to read your work. I have downloaded your bok and shall start it tonight.

    Many thanks

    Lynn

  2. If you have an email address, I could donate via PayPal.

You could also send a DCMA takedown notice to the infringing sites.

    Never Thrist,
